Awesome little batches more like a tree house style nice and cozy, if you love nature this is the spot! Dog, Sheep and fresh milk from the cows you will love the stay here. Just 2 hours drive to Cape Reinga from here so easy. Hosts are so lovely and they love talking about local activities. Take your power banks with you as the rooms are eco-friendly with only solar lights. We are going to stay there again this summer <3 Cheers to Matt and Sue :D

The Center of the Umaverse is an incredible location. You will be surrounded by pretty rolling hills, happy livestock and lush farmland. Your hosts are very friendly and hospitable.

This was our first airbnb experience and we could not have had any better host then Sue, Matt & Hope. First you get greeted with a happy Hope (the herd dog) running around and so joyful. Then you meet Sue & Matt, two beautiful human beings hidden in the middle of an idyllic home they have built for their family. Our bunch of 6 discovered the compost toilet, it was interesting with a barn smell, not too bad if you forget about the idea when sitting on the toilet lol! We loved the experience, sharing the kitchen, meeting Dumb & Dumber their sheeps, or their 4 Musqueteers calves. We relearned how to use water with more responsibility. The beds are very comfy and bathroom very clean, their whole home is sparkling clean. I can’t tell you it all or I ‘ll spoil the discovery. Overall great unexpected experience, with lots of warmth from our host and their little friends. Matt has funny stories to share and was very nice to arrange for a visit at the milking farm to get fresh milk which was yummy, unfortunately we missed the morning milking as we woke up too late. Thank you Sue & Matt + Hope.

A wonderful place to stay. Off the beaten track but definitely worth the visit. Matthew and Sue were awesome hosts and extremely welcoming. If offered the opportunity of dinner or a cooked breakfast, take it, you won’t be disappointed!

Matthew and Sue have done a wonderful job creating this Eco Retreat. The small one-room cabins are strategically placed to allow privacy and views. Everything done is tasteful, simple and comfortable. We enjoyed an evening with them over home-made pizza and had a basic cold cereal and toast breakfast the next morning with fresh milk from their cows. The offer of a shuttle ride from and to Horeke is what sealed our decision, for as bikers on The Twin Coast Trail, we were not going to bike out to their place on country roads which are curving and hilly with steep drop-offs and no shoulders. Offering that shuttle ride opens up their place to more people. Thank you for a great, relaxing stay.

Had an amazing time, great place if you want to escape reality for a minute. Felt comfortable and welcomed as soon as we arrived. The rooms/cabins were perfect for relaxing and soaking in the surroundings with a view right outside the door. Sue and Matt have some great stories that kept us entertained for hours. Perfect place to go in any season, 10/10 would recommend.

Matt and Sue have created something rather magical at their Northland farm. Their home and the guests' accommodation is unique and beautifully finished. I felt so relaxed I had the best sleeps in a long time. Matt and Sue are very helpful and interesting hosts, their dog Hope is just adorable (cats are cute too!) and the surrounding scenery is breaktaking. I wholeheartedly recommend a stay at the Center of the Umaverse.
